Thursday Night League

Thursday Night Badminton League (TNBL) takes place almost every week and runs throughout the year. This is a 4-person team competition that caters for players of all abilities. Teams are graded and the competition runs in ‘Rounds’ that usually include 5 weeks of play.

  • Spaces are available now so get some friends or workmates together and make a team!
  • Play 3 matches of doubles each week (1½ hours)
  • Beginner through to advanced grades
  • Shuttles provided, racquets available
  • No experience necessary!
  • Start times are 6pm or 7.30pm in the B&M Centre, Arena Manawatu

Please note that these dates are subject to change. Dates of each round will be communicated in advance of each round.

  • Round 1: 22 Jan to 12 Feb [4 week round]- entry deadline: Mon 19 Jan
  • Round 2: 19 Feb to 19 Mar – entry deadline: Mon 16 Feb
  • Round 3: 2 Apr to 30 Apr  – entry deadline: Mon 30 Mar
  • Round 4: 7 May to 4 Jun – entry deadline: Fri 1 May
  • Round 5: 11 Jun to 23 Jul [no play 9 Jul & 16 Jul] – entry deadline: Fri 5 Jun
  • Round 6: 30 Jul to 27 Aug  – entry deadline: Fri 24 July
  • Round 7: 10 Sep to 15 Oct [no play 1 Aug] – entry deadline: Fri 4 Sep
  • Round 8: 22 Oct to 19 Nov  – entry deadline: Fri 16 Oct
  • Round 9: 26 Nov to 17 Dec [4 week round] – entry deadline: Fri 20 Nov

Team Fees

All TEAMS must pay for the Full Round at the start of each Round.

All subs will be asked to pay the appropriate nightly fee.

New teams can be entered, or current ones withdrawn, between each round.

  • Total of 4 players per team (contact Cassandra if you need help finding additional players).
  • Minimum of 1 female player per team (Grade 1 only).
  • Your team must be able to play for an entire round.
  • Make every effort to find your own subs. Contact us if you are having trouble.
  • Payment for each round is to be made in full on the first week of each round (EFTPOS / cash / bank transfer).
  • Continued participation of all teams from one round to the next is assumed, unless we are told otherwise.
